Jessie was creating a craft in another room when she came bounding down the stairs with great pride, feeling extra “pretty.”  It was one of those moments as a parent where you wanted to laugh hysterically and document the moment while also feeling the importance of not encouraging the behavior. I’m not sure my response accomplished all those things…

“Jessie, that’s not funny,” as I tried to hold back my chuckle, “But I’d like to grab my camera and take a picture.”

“Okay, mama,” she replied, a little deflated.

…However, I love the moments I captured on camera in the process.
