SYMPTOMS OF KRABBE DISEASE
Children with Krabbe disease usually appear healthy at birth. Symptoms commonly begin between the ages of 3-6 months but the disease-course is different for each child.
Symptoms of Early/Late-Infantile Krabbe often include:
- Changes in Muscle Tone
- From Floppy to Rigid
- Feeding Difficulties
- Crying & Irritability
- Sensitivity to Loud Sounds
- Severe Seizures
- Unexplained Fevers
- Fisting
- Hand Closes Around Thumb
- Vision Loss
Symptoms in Later-Onset Krabbe often include:
- Changes in Gait (walking difficulties)
- Swallowing Issues
- Irritability
- Loss of Body & Head Control
- Vision Impairment
- Rigid Muscles
- Seizures
