Losing a child is nine parts unthinkably horrible, and one part gift.
The secret to surviving is in finding the gift.—D. Steel
God has said that he wants to develop in our hearts greater depth of character and spiritual understanding through our trials. Is this not the gift?
The challenge to my survival has been seeing the value of this gift in the midst of all the heartache endured.
In many ways, is this not the challenge for all of us?…allowing God’s greater purpose for our lives to be received as a valuable gift in our pain.
Lord, please help me to see and experience your gift!
Oh, me too Lord…me too.

There are periods of time when I feel like I’m walking through a tunnel, and the only echos I hear are that of my own whimpers..and I have to force myself to look into the eyes of my Savior and remember that I am being transformed into the image of the beautiful One whom I adore.
hi christina–so good to see you and drake enjoying the evening together tonight. you reminded me that it seems the reason we all have such difficulty receiving might be that, somewhere along the way, we believed that it is more blessed to give than to receive. but it really isn’t. if we can just receive HIS gifts, we will find that we can never outgive the Giver, who, in fact, is the One giving through us…if ever we give. we’re just channels. if only we will receive. can’t give what we don’t receive.
