The Smile
Miss Jess had a fabulous FIFTH birthday at her “Sea Creatures of the Lagoon” party which included crab walk races, fishing, a salt water taffy hunt, boating, and more. But there was one moment in the afternoon that particularly captured my heart. The candles were lit on Jessie’s cupcake and her guests were singing “Happy Birthday.” But it was as if all that was happening around us suddenly faded into the background when Jessie locked eyes with me and the sweetest smile swept across her face–a smile reserved just for her mom. It was a grin that spokes volumes of appreciation, gratitude, and love.
Our precious little girl is growing up—developing and changing at lightning speed—so when the world seems to stop, even if for only a moment, it is a gift beyond words!
